To Whom it May Concern:
The vets who administer drugs to animals need to be
held accountable. No one should be able to prescribe,
dispense and inoculate animals with no thought of responsibility
and consequences with gay abandon. The vet who gave
ProHeart6 to Murphy emphatically and coldly stated,
"THAT SHOT DID NOT KILL YOUR DOG!", which
must be his way of expressing sympathy for our loss.
Within a short period of time the FDA ordered an immediate
recall of ProHeart6. When the vet who inoculated Murphy
was confronted with the FDA recall of ProHeart6, he
told my wife, and I'm paraphrasing because his remarks
were sarcastically off the top of his head and the emptiness
of his heart, that she was now a "hero" due
to our pursuit to get ProHeart6 off the market before
it killed more dogs. And I write "killed more dogs"
because the FDA categorically states that they know
of at least 12 dogs that died directly because of ProHeart6.
No ifs, ands or buts!
We sustained a tremendous loss in our home and lives,
but the fact is that Murphy's case is the tip of the
iceberg and in the wake of ProHeart6. Fort Dodge has
made flat-out fraudulent statements about Murphy and
probably about many other adversely impacted dogs...and
only God knows what some of their other drugs have done
to all kinds of animals, and their recourse is lies
and denials in the pursuit of protecting their coffers.
Shame on Fort Dodge! Shame on Wyeth! Shame on the vets
who have lost their compassion for a buck! Shame on
all of the professionals in the field of pharmacology
who have thrown people and their pets under a bus for
a buck.
One will never find the joy and love and fulfillment
of hugging one's wealth as we did living in the midst
of Murphy, a perfectly healthy 10½ year old Yorkie...until
she received a deadly dose of ProHeart6. The least we
could have expected was a warning from our vet about
any adverse reactions from ProHeart6.
Vets need to wake up to the fact that all they are
are licensed drug pushing conduits for the pharmaceutical
establishment. We pet owners need to expect and demand
a higher degree of accountability from vets...and the
veterinary schools need to more closely monitor their
students and graduates. The vets are the ones we've
all come to expect to be super compassionate about the
treatment of God's creatures, who in turn, dumbly trust
us. Unfortunately, we human being pet owners have been
relegated to the same status as DUMB animals because
we put our pets in their arms and care. This all has
got to stop because,
if it hasn't happened already, human beings will be
treated by physicians in the same manner, sooner than
later.
Murphy's Sad Daddy,
Jim
