| Comments: | Our "Millie" received the Proheart 6 and that is the worst choice I could have made. Millie is a 3 1/2 year old black lab that we adopted from lab rescue that had heart worm when we took herin February of 2003. She was successfully treated for heartworm and was given the proheart 6 injection in June of 2003. Unfortunately I relied on the "rescue" vet for information since I haven't had a dog in over 20 years and was told that the Proheart injection was fine. BIG, BIG MISTAKE. Millie developed intestinal problems, vomiting and diaherria, but I still didn't link it with the proheart shot. By November she started collapsing and we discovered (after 5 vets and finally seeking the advice of an animal neurologist) that she had encephelitis. Every test possible has been admininstered to Millie to find the cause of the encephelitis. The findings are that she now has an autoimmune disorder and is on steriods, a chemotherpay drug and seizure medication to decrease the swelling in her bra |

| Comments: | I suspect that my 4 year old JRT got severely sick from this medication two weeks after being administered the ProHeart 6 injection. Countless tears and over $3,200 later, she survived. I know we are lucky but I never would wish any pet owner to suffer like I did. If ProHeart 6 is what almost killed my beloved Jack Russell Terrier, I would like to do everything in my power to see this REMOVED from the market IMMEDIATELY. We all go on blind faith, trusting our vets and these pharmaceutical companies to offer medications to enhance our pets' lives, not take these same lives away. |

My Alaskan Malamute Phantom was
completely healthy. Two weeks after receiving
the proheart6 shot he started having difficulty
walking. The vet did tests and suddenly he
was "diabetic". He went blind and we had to
put him down 10 months later. I have another
dog Citron who thank God didn't get sick but
will never receive the shot again. My vet
said there is no relationship between the
shot and Phantoms demise but after the expose
the other night I seriously wonder. Take this
product off the market before more loved pets
and their owners have to go throught he pain
horror and expens that we had to. |

After my breeder sent me an e-mail
about the dangers of proheart 6, I went to
post the message on a Golden Retriever rescue
board to inform others. A link to this website
was posted. Apparently, I was the last one
on the boat. I have 2 Goldens, Deuce 21 months
and Dixie 1 year. Deuce has recieved Proheart
6 for a year with no problems (thank god).
Dixie is on the oral once a month tablets.
Deuce will NEVER recieve the shot again, and
Dixie will NEVER get it once. Proheart 6 has
always made my mom nervous, as our Jake (passed
away 7/2002) always got sick and didn't feel
good after the treatment. We believe he died
of cancer, but he was only 7! It makes me
angry that this is still being offered as
a "safe, convient" alternative. PLEASE STOP
PROHEART 6 from taking another innocent life! |

8 days after getting ph shot my

Thanks for the informative web

pet owners who are willing to risk a side
effect of "death" for the convenience of a

My Std. Poodle had a complete
exam and was healthy. within hours of the

I am VERY concerned over the tone
and conclusions offered in some of the posts
here. I have practiced small animal medicine
for over thirty years. I have used Proheart
since it first came on the market. I have
had exactly 0 (zero) adverse reactions to
its use. My concerns regarding some of the
statements are far too extensive for me to
elaborate on in this space though as a bottom
line, the inappropriate fear generated by
the site will almost certainly cause fear
over using this VERY effective drug when there
is NO reason to be afraid, and some will choose
to NOT use this product because of that fear.
There is NO such thing as a drug that has
NO adverse reactions. There have been adverse
reactions reported associated with ALL medications
including ALL heartworm preventives. The idea
is that vast numbers of patients die from
heartworm disease because they are not given
a preventive. Almost NONE die from ANY preventive.

I have been a vet tech for over
10 years now. I too have been "convinced"
by this website to be wary of PH6. Thanks
to all who shared thier stories. One of my
dachshunds recieved a PH6 injection in 2002,
with no reactions, thank goodness. As with
any drug, even the bad ones, you will have
some dogs do okay. I am truely sorry for all
who have had to say goodbye to thier beloved

is very informative about symptoms. You should
read all the information you can about this
dangerous Drug. I do not think the reported
benefits of a twice a year (every 6 months)

Great website girls. I hope it
reaches a lot of pet owners. God bless you

to help save others. Because of information
that I picked up on the internet (I-Dog) our
Ollie did NOT get this shot,,,,,,,and I feel
so lucky that I did come across this information
as you see Ollie is pretty allergic anyway,
I shutter to think what might have happened
to him. I will book mark this website and
give it to all dog owners that I know. |
