"Molly"

May 1996 - June 2007

My sweet girl Molly sleeps outside my window under the oak trees.

My sweet girl Molly sleeps outside my window under the oak trees.  She came to this mountain in my arms, 6 weeks old.  Quiet, loving, a beautiful AKC Norwegian Elkhound..... smart, sweet, attentive, and aways there.

She died on the hill, in my arms at age 11.

Molly saw me through all the hard times of the past 5 years:  a bitter divorce, the loss of her buddy Skye to that divorce, a head on collison car accident, physical rehabilitation.  She slept on my bed, then at the foot of a hospital bed. Then a wheelchair.  I could not have made it though those years without her.  And now that I can walk again, she is gone.
Her life included play:  with Skye, Murphy, Momcat, the chickens, the deer, the squirrels.  Walks, runs and Rides!  She was always a healthy girl who loved Rides!

At age 11 her hips began to bother her, she could not jump to get on the bed or into her car.  So she was prescribed Deramaxx for the minor pain.  Even with blood testing, she became suddenly ill.  Quietly off her feed, she became less active, and would not eat even her favorite chicken.  One week after she went off her food the medication was stopped.  But while putting her into the car to take her to a special Internist, she collapsed, and as I held her, all the light went out of her.

She died in my arms 4 weeks after 1st testing, and 3 days after emergency blood testing. Her vet explained she had an adverse reaction to the drug.  Far too fast!!  Far too silent!

Molly now speaks through me:  Deramaxx is too dangerous to give to dogs.  I don't care what the vets say! Or if they give out an Information Sheet (which I did not get).  Or the FDA.
I will continue to tell everyone I can:  do not give your animal Deramaxx, it kills quickly, very silently.

Goodbye my Sweet Girl Molly....keep watching over
me.
