http://www.caps-web.org/rimadyl.php

everyone read this.... and know that angel eyes product uses rimadyl in it but has changed the name to tylosin.

but it is the same stuff. it is an antibiotic which might temporarily help the liver but taxes the kidneys so bad you are putting your dogs health in grave danger. this is how they make money make us think we are helping our animals and actually killing our best friends.

why are theses pet companies allowed to get away with this ****?
encouraging us to vaccinate without informing us of what the risks are? why are our vets promoting such products and unnecessary shots and surgerys for our helpless little babies.
why can companies put rimadyl in products like angel eyes that cause kidney failure? why so much over marketing and selling food products that are not nutricious or digestible for dogs and then for the few of us who have found resolution in a raw food diet they are trying to make raw dog food against the law? this is what their stomach enzymes and acids are designed to digest!!! and by the way if this is of any interest to you read up at rawpetfood.org about that one.

i am so angered by the legal dis-service we are all exposed to thru marketing and greedy business people that endangering our best friends has become an ok thing to do
.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I (we) have a precious little dog named "Chanel" (a Toy Poodle) and she has come down with the disease your dog had. Now I'm trying to get as much info to help her as possible.
Thank you!!!

Great information. Keep up the good work. It certainly enlightened my knowledge and view on vaccines.

possible post vaccinal distemper encephalitis
My 9 year old Welsh Terrier was vaccinated on 10/26/07 with DA2P-PV and she has displayed deteriorating neurological symptoms ever since. I have had her to the vet 3 times in the past week and they have drawn blood each time for additional testing (costs fast approaching $500). The vet never told me about post vaccinal distemper encephalitis, but I found limited information about it on the internet. They have been telling me her condition has something to do with her diet and possibly pancreatitis, although she is not displaying any of those symptoms. They tell me another possibility is some type of liver malfuntion because her billirubin (sp?) levels are somewhat elevated (the whites of her eyes are not yellowed). I have an appointment with a neurological specialist on Monday, 11/5. In the meantime, they gave me pain meds to give her. She hangs her head, walks slowly and unsteadily, knuckles her paws, and has trouble going up and down a couple of stairs. I would welcome any information anyone could provide on this condition.

Thank you so much for your time

MY nine year old Poodle Precious died two days after being treated with some sort of shot for her abdomin. I wanted to know if it is common for dogs to die when given extremly strong medications and also what to look for to detect if your dog is having a serious reaction

My beautiful Maya suffered from cluster seizures for a year before I let her go to the Rainbow Bridge. They started about 4 months after her first rabies vaccine. All tests came back completely normal, including an MRI of her brain. After spending thousands of dollars trying to get her stabilized, and working with a veterinary neurologist, not one professional ever suggested it was a reaction to the rabies vaccine. Epilepsy is not common in her breed. This horrible experience taught me not to accept the status quo and to do research. Thank you for this site - education and information are the keys to healthy lives and strong immune systems for ourselves and for our pets.

Thank you for this very informative web site. I am sure it has saved the lives of many beloved companion animals. It came too late for my George, but the more people who view this site, the safer it will be for our companion animals. And,
THANK YOU.

Our five pound Maltese recently had her rabie shot. A day later we noticed a bump on her neck and then the very next day she could not walk. We took her the vet and they gave her a shot for pain and sent us home with some other meds. She seems worse. Is this common?

We are waiting to find out more about the dog food recall that was just posted. We lost our Snickers on 3-14-07 due to kidney failure. She was the sweetest Chocolate Lab. We have two other dogs and are fearful for them. I don't think we could handle another loss. We miss Snickers so much.

I have a question. It seems alot of the dogs in this area are are diagnosed with Lyme Disease. My 4 year old German Shepherd was on a pill for Lyme Disease at the time he became ill and died. My question is there anyone that has had a similar problem or any problem with a medication for Lyme Disease?

I purchased a toy poodle, (BaileyBoy) from a woman that had over 150 animals on her property. The woman gave me a shot record that she filled out and provided me with the empty vial bottles as proof of his first shots. I took BaileyBoy for a well puppy exam the next day after purchasing him and found he had an ear infection and hookworms. My vet would not take the shot records because they were not provided by a vet even though the woman told me they were. Better safe than sorry. I called the woman I purchased him from and informed her of his health. I didn't want my money back but I felt she should have paid for his medications at least. She told me she wouldn't. I let it go but I called the local Humane Society and they investigated her and called me back with their findings. They stated that all is well with all of the puppies and they also told me they spoke with the vet she stated she uses and said all of the puppies are up to date on their shots. My personal belief is that she is running a puppy mill. BaileyBoy screamed loud when I first picked him up. After his exam I realized he was in a lot of pain because of the ear infection and the hookworms. He's doing so much better. I honestly believe I saved his life. I only wish more can be done for the other animals that remain on her property.

Please help me.. I have a 2.5 year old Old English Sheepdog who had a 3rd rabies/distemper shot. A month after he became lethargic and would not eat. His back quarter became almost paralyzed and he was falling all the time. He could not get in or out of the car. He started to have shakes like he had the chills. He would not eat or drink, although he has improved there. The hospital thought he had myocenia gravis, but the tests came back negative after a weeks stay. They say they have no idea whats wrong with the dog ?? Please e mail me should you any idea what this could be. HE IS LOSING WEIGHT RAPIDLY AND HE IS A WONDERFUL DOG !!! HE NOW WALKS SLOW AND HAS TO STOP EVERY FEW STEPS TO SIT OR LAY DOWN AND REST...thank you

Our Champion Newfoundland Showdog was given the rattlesnake vaccine made by Red Rocks. Three days later she came down with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. She was taken to VCA in Ft Collins Colorado, put in Doggie ICU with transfusion, meds, etc for 4 days. We brought her home for an up and down battle with AIHA which is still continueing after 3 months. Both our vets contacted the company only to be told that this has never happen before so it could not possible be due to their vaccine. Both vets stated there is always a first time. Now the company denies ever hearing from my vets. Is it any wonder they have no record of adverse reactions? They do not seem to track or record incoming calls made to their vets. I was also contacted by their lawyer who was "concerned" about my statements. I am telling anyone who will listed DON"T USE THAT VACCINE! Our dog will never be shown again due to the muscle wasteing.

My 13+ year old chocolate lab had a grand mal seizure (her first ever) over the weekend. she had her Iverhart dose three days prior, and i recently disontinued Metacam because it seemed to make her throw up and "withdraw" at night. she had a shorter seizure this morning. i am exploring online to see if others have reported these problems.... she sees her vet tomorrow. they have always done right by her and any interaction would be accidental on their parts. the stories here have certainly moved me. i don't know if Josie is suffering merely from old age, or some other factor(s), but she has always been healthy overall and my heart is breaking over watching her seize.

Hello my name is Pam Wiyninger and i would like to share my story with you . Well i had a 2 year old blonde lab her name was Peaches, She was a very happy, healthy, and loving pet. We took her to the vet at Eudora Animal Hospital to have her spayed on the 9th of June 2006 We picked her back up on the 10th of June 2006 they told me everything went well and to take her home and start her on Rimadyl 100 ml tablets the next day the prescription was to give her 1 1/2 tablets a day once a day for pain so i did. the day after we gave her this she started vomiting and not eating so we stopped the medicine she continued to not eat and vomiting for four more days we took her back to the same vet and explained what was going on with her he said that she needed to be on this medication because she was in pain but she wasnt showing pain or whimpering as though to be in pain,he gave her a shot of antinflamatory i'm not really sure what it was but he said that it would help her feel better, we took her back home and started her back on the rimadyl as directed by the vet.she showed no signs of improvemment i called the vet back by this time we were haveing to feed her enervit through a syring because she would not eat she was very latharagic by this time and losing weight very rapidly, i looked this drug up on the internet and seen the side effects of this drug and it was the same side effects that my Peaches was haveing so i called the vet back and asked him if this is what was happening to her he told me no to go ahead and give it to her so we did thinking that we were doing the right thing still she was showing no signs of improvement she was getting worse . with in 2 days of doing this she started having seizures we called the vet back again and he told us to bring her back in and see what was going on with her so we did he told us that he thought she had gotten into something toxic like a poison or that it could be possible be rabies but she didnt have any signs of rabies i know for a fact the she didnt get into anything she was in a kennel along with my male lab that was still perfectly healthy he took blood and gave her a shot of Valium and started her on IV antibiotics he told us that the blood samples didnt show anything but that the liver inzimes were a little high but it was not high enough to be rimadyl toxcicity but he was going to keep her overnight to see how she was the next morning he called us and told us that she was about the same still having the seizures so we said to give her another 24 hours and see what happened well the next day came and went and she was still the same with siezures and head pressing against the cage they had her in the next day would have been on the fourth day of not getting any better he called us and told us that there was still no change so we went to see her she didnt do anything when we went to her side but just lay on her side no response at all we called her name and still nothing no movement just laying there and jerking we asked again about this medicine he still said no it wasnt the rimadyl but i still believe it was she had all the signs of a reaction he then stated the he thought it was strictnine or something i told him i couldnt stand to see her like this and to put her to sleep he told me i was doing the right thing by doing this because if she would recover from this she would never be the same we are having samples of her sent to the lab for testing to see exactly what this was i am not sure if he will be honest and tell us the real results of the testing but i still in my heart believe it was the rimadyl that done this to her i am out the cost of the spaying $300.00 and i am also without my Peaches so i was wondering if there is anything we can do about this vet . Please help us with this !!!!!!

My friend had a pet that DID suffer adverse reaction to drugs and her "Sam" died as a resuly. My daughter's pet also has a=had adverse reations to drugs for his skin ..and lost all his hair

This would be helpful to so many and hopefully make the vets more careful and the consumer more aware.

You provide a good service; too bad your site isn't universally known.

Have always been a bit sceptical about ALL the pet medications, especially those given/applied daily or monthly....because we consumers never get the drug company's literature to read. ....However, I well remember our vet, Dr. Jody Josie, in Starkville MS, telling me about 10 years ago I could give my Daisloo remadyl when we realized she had some arthritis and a bit of dysplasia in her hips...but give remadyl daily or regularly only if it were a "compassionate" treatment; in other words, if she were dying anyway! (Instead, I started her on glucosamine/chrondoitrin...and she's still limber as a 3-year old today!)

I am very grateful for this website. The wealth of information, the memorial/survivors lists (with pictures, stories, etc.), etc., etc., this site is so needed for all people who care about their beloved furkids.

I lost 2 of my beloved Goldens to Rimadyl; 14 yr old Winkie on Nov. 21, 1998 and 14 1/2 yr old Britta on June 22, 2000. I was heartbroken. I knew nothing of the serious sideeffects of this drug until after I lost Britta. I wish I had known them beforehand. Britta had mild hip dysplasia and was put on Rimadyl in fall of 1997. Winkie had some arthritis and also was put on Rimadyl in fall of 1997 by my vet of almost 30 years.

He had no knowledge of Rimadyl's deadly side effects at the time. It was touted as a "wonder drug" by Pfizer to help dogs with arthritic problems. It turned out to be a very deadly drug for many beloved canine furkids like mine, and it continues to be still.

Hi: Thanks for your work! My dog is having a reaction to a rabies shot. My understanding is that the class action lawsuit is not for that -- correct? Do you have any recommendations for vets in the Austin/Bastrop area? My vet gave no warnings and when I called concerned with the lump on my dogs neck, the office staff didn't seem trained to be on alert. Consequently, I didn't get my dog back to the vet until over 2 months from the time of the injection. Again, thanks for your work.

Veterinarians are DISHONEST. They can give our pets off label drugs and do not tell us. Are beloved pet died because of mistakes the Vet did. We won our Complaint to the TX STATE BOARD OF VETERINARY MEDICAL EXAMINERS. Wonderful site. Please tell others.

Please visit my website link. It is a memorial to my best friend, Spartan. He was another unfortunate victim of The Hunte Corporation, the largest puppy broker in the United States. We did everything we could to keep him comfortable and paid a huge amount of monty to our vet clinic. He still died. He was only 2 1/2 years old.

If anyone thinks they would like to include a link to his site, I've created a banner lin. I just want to educate the public! Most people (myself previously included) believe if they get a pedigree dog from a pet store it will be healthy. We need to get the word out there that pet stores and puppymills are unloving, money grubbing, abusive, lying crooks.

Sincerely, Denise Samouilidis

This is a wonderful site. People needs to learn more about there vets. They do not tell the truth about drugs they give to are beloved pets an animals. They make money selling drugs to are pets. We have four dogs and one 16 year old cat..I have learned more today by reading this site. Thank you.

I have ****NEVER**** been given warnings about ANY vaccines from any of my vets. That is for my cats or my four Border Collies. Most vets don't even realize how harmful ivermectin "Heartguard" can be for Border Collies. I do BC rescue and I bring dogs in all the time.

As a retired nurse, my ears are always waiting to hear the adverse reactions or side effects.... the vets either DON'T KNOW or DON'T TELL.

One of our dogs was determined to have renal disease. At first the vet said she was fine, but he knows that I KNOW my dogs. Anyhow, when I asked what she should be eating he said a HIGH protein diet. I just stared at him and said "She has RENAL disease" He said oh yea, LOW protein.

Listen to the vets and they will kill your dogs for sure. I am thankful that I am trained as a nurse, I KNOW it has saved my dogs lives & many trips to the vet.

This is a wonderful site.

Dee

Hooray for Dolores --- throw the Metacam away! Metacam was given my infant Irish Wolfhound puppies because the Vet said "when puppies are in pain, they cry and then they die".... The four he treated were constipated from PetAg's puppy Esbilac (cow milk formula)... These little infants just 7 days old, did not have a chance once the drugs were given (he gave Naxcel, an antibiotic, also).. I took them home and they all bled to death in my hands... one by one. Merial Labs says Metacam was NOT intended for use on any dog under 6 months of age nor for any condition other than osteoarthritic -- they said 'pain relief' is just a "bonus" of Metacam...Linda Leigh Daniel, who refused to let this Vet treat the remaining 6 puppies who are now 7 months and one week old HEALTHY...

My dog Heidi (80 lbs and a Senior Citizen, 10 years old) just had surgery last week on a cruciate ligament on her back right leg. Due to the drugs for surgery and an overnight stay that was upsetting for her by itself, she regurgitated everyt thing we fed her for three days after surgery. Metacam was prescribed from the beginning, and I have been worried about giving it to her. You site has been extremely informative and I not going to give it to her any longer. thanks again and I plan to visit often. DLH

It is our responsibility as humans to understand animal health and nutrition. We need to educate ourselves on food, vaccines and other health and well-being for animals.

We owe it to our animal friends to understand them as they are and to honor them as our greatest friends.

I do encourage each of you to learn natural health for animals as it could very well save your animal's life.

Blessings,

After my 4 year old golden retriever, Hunter, was killed by Proheart6, I found so many others who had also lost or almost lost their dogs to it. Thank goodness for this web site where we can tell the story of our lost pet and read of others and know that people will learn fom our stories and from all the information found here.
