By Debra Glidden With the arctic blast that has enveloped the region, pet owners are being advised to bundle up their furry friends. The skin on an animal can freeze in as little as 20 minutes in sub-zero temperatures, according to local veterinarians and animal-care experts. Veterinarians at the North Shore Animal Hospital on Neptune Boulevard in Lynn said animals should not be outside for more than 10 minutes in temperatures below 20 degrees. Veterinarian Lisa Zerbel said, "Taking long walks in this weather isn't advisable. We recommend taking them out just long enough to let them go to the bathroom."

Six Month Injection Recall Comments:

From Debbie Markwardt:   Nothing will replace the pain and suffering that many dogs & owners have endured because of Proheart 6.   We now know that "NO" more dogs will be affected from Proheart 6.   Thank you FDA for listening to the people and not the drug manufactures.

I would like to congratulate everyone involved with website.   All the long hours & years that everyone has but in has finally saved many dogs from an adverse reaction or death from the Proheart 6 shot.   If it would not have been for this site I would have lost my dog Rusty and Proheart 6 would still be out there on the market. Maybe this will show the drug manufactures that they better think twice before putting a dangerous drug out on the market without adequate testing and using our dogs for their experimental testing. Thank you all, again

From: Laurie and Jim Rentas - Murphy's Guardians:

This is truly "the fruits of our labor". All of us played a part in the recall of ProHeart6. It's the first time that we've felt any justice regarding what so violently killed Murphy.

Whether one of us simply filled out a complaint form or created a website or made a phone call to the FDA or alerted another victim's guardian or handed out a flyer or told a friend or just simply said a prayer, we ALL did this.

I remember people telling us to "keep up the fight" and we did. And for this, we've been rewarded.

And it's okay that the vet who injected Murphy still doesn't believe it caused her death (as he so stated to me a couple months ago). Today when I visited him he, ooops, let it slip that he won't GIVE IT TO HIS OWN DOG!

All about money? You tell me.

We did it, people! Congratulations to us all!

From Stacy Strickland in Jacksonville, FL:
I am so!! so !! HAPPY. Here we are in Florida bracing for a wicked storm "Frances", and the year long!  storm of Proheart has flashed us a light!  I dont need any electricity!.....we have the power!!!
My "Precious" girl, (and all the other special angels with you...) THANK YOU! , for giving me and all the other dog-guardians here,  the strength to hang in there, and SHOW the FDA that this deadly Injection is what took you away. We still have a long road, but now we know....we can do it. Thanks to everyone, especially Laurryn and Janice. :).... Mommy loves you, Precious Girl.
