Meadow
- Survivor |
|
As I start this
newsletter I just want to say we have MUCH happening! All
for the *better* welfare of our companions!
|
I would like to welcome
Kris & Peter Christine from Maine. Due to their
dog "Meadow"
Bill LD429 will require veterinarians to provide vaccine
disclosure forms to pet owners BEFORE they vaccinate their
animals. It goes with the new vaccine protocols, that all
the vaccines we've been told were necessary for decades.....
aren't always. Watch our Vaccine
page for further developments! and different states!
Kris' last recent
comment: "the Ag. Committee recommended that
LD 429 "ought not to pass with an exception,"
the bill has a major obstacle to overcome in order to pass,
which means pet owners must OVERWHELM
legislators with e-mails and phone calls asking them
to support it."

S.C.
vets want complaints to be private -
Doctors backing bills to gag citizens in animal cases "S.C.
veterinarians want to muzzle more than dogs these days. Two
bills they support would stop citizens from speaking out about
incompetent vets." |
Multidrug
Sensitivity - Why are some breeds more sensitive
to the effects of drugs than other breeds? Which drugs have
been reported to cause problems? At Washington State University's
College of Veterinary Medicine you can get your dog tested
for drug sensitivity and keep up with the latest research. |

Neutered
pets often healthier
"In an effort to curtail pet overpopulation,
humane societies and veterinarians across the country have
joined together to ask pet owners to sterilize their pets
this month. Last year on O'ahu, more than 6,000 sterilizations
were performed by community veterinarians as part of Honolulu's
low-cost Neuter Now program. And more pet owners need to consider
pet sterilization. The numbers are staggering. One unneutered
cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 kittens in just
seven years. A single unaltered dog and her offspring can
result in 67,000 puppies in six years." |

about dogs and drugs, but is it really drugs? or 'wrongs'
done to dogs? Thank you Connie for forwarding me this SAD

Animal
Protection Institute (API) "Anti-cruelty
statutes do not give animals legal rights, but these laws
are the main form of legal protection afforded to animals
in our society. Each of the 50 states and the District of

An
online petition for Oprah to do a show on 'dogs'.
It appears that it was originally planned for puppy mills,
but you can also add a comment what you would like it to be
about. Of course my comment was about drug dangers |
Physical
therapy for pets - - "The tiny bichon
fris is so old she's almost blind, but she might have four
or five good years left. So Teresa Castelli, one of two
certified canine rehabilitation practitioners in Florida,
goes to work, gently tugging the dog's right and left rear
legs to help her relearn how to walk. Meanwhile, in a chest-high
tank fitted with a treadmill, warm water buoys terrier-mix
Scully and relieves her aching joints. In another room,
a technician shines a "cold laser" on a surgical
wound to speed up healing."

In the Whole-Dog
Journal for May is alot of information regarding 'renal failure'
in dogs. It is interesting to note the possibility of certain
breeds being at higher risk for kidney disease. Naming only
a few: Chow, Cocker, Dobe, G. Shepard, Rottie and Standard
Poodle. |

Direct
to consumer advertising ..[NZ].."has decided
that the potential benefits of "direct to consumer advertising"
do not justify the harms and so plans to ban it from 2005.
That will leave the United States as the only industrialised
country allowing full direct to consumer advertising of prescription
medicines." |

The story of "Rainbow Bridge":
I'm sure we are all aware of it.... have heard the poem.... know
what it stands for and have told others about it. Now you can
'watch' it.
Terri
