ARE YOU A DOGOHOLIC? Thanks Lexiann of CyberPets.
The Animal RescueSite is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.
It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "feed an animal in need" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use th numbers of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Standards of Care: That is what the state vet boards go by, so what is it? what does it mean? what does it include? Asking around I received one response as follows: " SOC is actually a very simple concept to understand and there is usually some form of it in the statutes of the Veterinary Practice Act in all states: It's what any vet in a same or similar community would do in the same or similar circumstances with the same or similar animal. If Dr. A treats an animal one way, then Dr. B cannot deviate significantly from that. Doctors will disagree on minor points, of course, but the basic treatment remains the same.
A vet who deviates drastically from that SOC can be held liable by their vet boards and even the legal system if the client is lucky enough to find a lawyer to take the case.

When vets are filed on by clients with their state board, or sued in civil court, most times it's because they obviously did NOT adhere to standard of care and that's when they get socked with disciplinary action. It's a real hot button with vets, many of whom wish they could never be held accountable for any of their actions. Actually, they are as close to an "untouchable" profession as you could get: Vet boards routinely look the other way, and it's hard to sue a vet and get anywhere as long as pets are considered nothing more than property, no more valuable than a suitcase."

Important Information

If you do not file a complaint with the FDA.....
you're giving the manufacturer ammunition to use against you.
They can then claim there are so few cases of adverse reactions.... nothing needs to be done.

When you don't file, you stack the statistics in the manufacturers favor.
Don't depend on your vet's office.
(Thanks for the F.A.C.T idea Laurie!) .

GoMemphis.com: ProHeart6 recall driven by Internet, not veterinarians <must register>
Interesting, the comments about the few web sites on the Internet being at fault for a recall. That "common people" can cause the FDA to make a recall. Why not blame it on the TRUTH coming out and people educating THEMSELVES and making up THEIR OWN MINDS.

Six Month Injection Recall Comments:

From Debbie Markwardt:   Nothing will replace the pain and suffering that many dogs & owners have endured because of Proheart 6.   We now know that "NO" more dogs will be affected from Proheart 6.   Thank you FDA for listening to the people and not the drug manufactures.

I would like to congratulate everyone involved with website.   All the long hours & years that everyone has but in has finally saved many dogs from an adverse reaction or death from the Proheart 6 shot.   If it would not have been for this site I would have lost my dog Rusty and Proheart 6 would still be out there on the market. Maybe this will show the drug manufactures that they better think twice before putting a dangerous drug out on the market without adequate testing and using our dogs for their experimental testing. Thank you all, again

From: Laurie and Jim Rentas - Murphy's Guardians:

This is truly "the fruits of our labor". All of us played a part in the recall of ProHeart6. It's the first time that we've felt any justice regarding what so violently killed Murphy.

Whether one of us simply filled out a complaint form or created a website or made a phone call to the FDA or alerted another victim's guardian or handed out a flyer or told a friend or just simply said a prayer, we ALL did this.

I remember people telling us to "keep up the fight" and we did. And for this, we've been rewarded.

And it's okay that the vet who injected Murphy still doesn't believe it caused her death (as he so stated to me a couple months ago). Today when I visited him he, ooops, let it slip that he won't GIVE IT TO HIS OWN DOG!

All about money? You tell me.

We did it, people! Congratulations to us all!

From Stacy Strickland in Jacksonville, FL:
I am so!! so !! HAPPY. Here we are in Florida bracing for a wicked storm "Frances", and the year long!  storm of Proheart has flashed us a light!  I dont need any electricity!.....we have the power!!!
My "Precious" girl, (and all the other special angels with you...) THANK YOU! , for giving me and all the other dog-guardians here,  the strength to hang in there, and SHOW the FDA that this deadly Injection is what took you away. We still have a long road, but now we know....we can do it. Thanks to everyone, especially Laurryn and Janice. :).... Mommy loves you, Precious Girl.
