From
Bayer: ".....Advocate®.
The active ingredient, imidacloprid, is spread efficiently
over the animal's entire body, eradicating fleas throughout
its coat. At the same time, the highly innovative formulation
delivers a second active ingredient, moxidectin, to the body.
After penetrating the skin, moxidectin is distributed via
the bloodstream to control endoparasites such as heartworm,
roundworm and whipworm. The residual efficacy of moxidectin
after one-month application offers the first protection against
patent roundworm and hookworm infections in dogs and cats."

Steve Dale: Heartworm
Disease Continues to Spread “Lives
have been lost because of ProHeart™ 6 not being available,”
adds Nelson, who has a private practice based in Anniston,
Ala. “I’m disappointed with the FDA. We need a
resolution (about ProHeart™ 6). I’d like to see
the clear cut evidence from the FDA about why ProHeart should
not be on the market.”

3/30/06: "Assembly Bill
527 authorizes a city, village or town to exempt the owner
of a dog from the requirement to have the dog vaccinated against
rabies if the owner provides a letter from a veterinarian
stating that vaccination is inadvisable for reasons related
to the dog's health. The bill helps protect canine health
by allowing veterinarians to withhold a rabies vaccination
when medical conditions warrant. Governor Doyle thanked
Representative Pat Strachota and Senator Glenn Grothman for
their work on the bill." |

HSUS
Statement on Dangerous Dogs and Breed-Specific Legislation
" The HSUS opposes legislation aimed at eradicating or
strictly regulating dogs based solely on their breed for a
number of reasons. Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is a common
first approach that many communities take. Thankfully, once
research is conducted most community leaders correctly realize
that BSL won't solve the problems they face with dangerous
dogs" |
From the April edition of "Dog Watch"
by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine: "If
your veterinarian has been grumpy lately, don't blame your
dog. A survey in the trade journal 'Veterinary Economics'
asked veterinarians to list their top three sources of stress.
At the bottom of the stressor list was computer problems,
an irk-some issue that the profession shares with most everyone
in America.
Tied for second place were "not enough time" and
"clients who dispute fees." The worst stressor
by far was "difficult or non-compliant clients."

GSD
Health Survey: From Dawn: "My objective
for this survey is to continue to gather information on GSDs
in order that researchers, like myself, can identify what
health issues are plaguing this breed and what role genetics
AND environmental factors may play in those issues. My interest
is not political or monetary in nature, but scientific. I
am not a breeder, but I believe in maintaining the integrity
of purebred dog breeding. " |
Senate
Committee on Fiance: "The Food and Drug
Administration reported today that drug makers failed to undertake
two of every three studies they agreed to do after their products
were approved for sale by the agency".

$20,000
Offer! "Jock Doubleday, president of the
California nonprofit corporation Natural Woman, Natural Man,
Inc., hereby offers $20,000.00 (U.S.) to the first medical
doctor or pharmaceutical company CEO who publicly drinks a
mixture of standard vaccine additive ingredients in the same
amount as a six-year-old child is recommended to receive under
the year-2000 guidelines of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention." |
| A
healthy dose of reality on drug safety "ONLY 9% OF
American adults think the pharmaceutical industry is trustworthy,
according to a recent Harris poll. That means that the makers
of lifesaving and life-enhancing drugs rank just above tobacco
companies in the public's esteem." |
