My name is Annelise Juncker, and I am an owner of 4 dogs in the weight of 25 kilos of the same race namely Sharpei. The last, a bitch of now 42 months, has been a nightmare. After having enjoyed the sight of a really lovely puppy in a couple of months, the trouble starts with that she looks like one with measles, then the hair come off together with enormous quantity of dandruff for many many days.

She is now very short of fur, the skin itches on the neck, in the groin, and behind the forelegs. Great areas are coal-black and thickened, it would have been more appropriate for an elephant, she is sticky all over too and smells very remarkable.

We have of course several times been to the vet, he takes samples and tears his hair and tells me that he hasn’t seen anything like it, that the race has a bad defence of immune. He tells me ten times: “Go to the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural High School to professor Flemming Kristensen, he might help”. I tell him: “I will not, you are my vet, you have to find out what is wrong.”

We try several kinds of penicillin, it helps a little but just till the treatment is over. I tear down from the shelves at the pharmacy of ointments and remedies for itches to stop, but nothing helps.

I order 10 American books about the race and read every single minutes about the disease. We have had dogs for 35 years and have a large collection of books about dogs, suddenly I come across something in the book about nutrition of the dog by the vet Ib Engelhart, lack of B-vitamin can course serious skin problems, are there not enough vitamins in the fodder, I wonder.

The vet thinks that I am an idiot, from him I buy 2 kinds of food that we use.

Appling to 2 dog food companies releases a longer waiting time from one of the companies in getting an answer what kind B-vitamins the food contents.

I was somewhat staggered that there were only 4 kinds of B-vitamins in the one kind of food. The alarm bells, this is not wright.

Off I go after various vitamins and mineral supplement, nothing helps.

An experienced dog breeder suggests to use Hokamix30 + Velcote (leaflets I have had for a long time), without having any idea that the help was on my desk for several months, well, I called Skyescot Trading and talked to Dorthe Martina in Hornbaek who sells is. She gives me good advise what to do. In a very short time, I recall it as about 14 days, then we could faintly see a week brown touch of a new fur which spreads on several places of the bare skin. Only the top half of the body, however, has not got any new fur, the skin is coal-black and thickened, I wait and wait, no new hair, but now the back and the sides are very good looking with a thick new fur. I call Dorthe Martina again: “Now you have to use your brain, don’t you have anything to conjure up the fur instead of this, it looks like a lie.”

“Yes”, she says, “Hokamix Forte against very difficult skin problems, try it and then you see.” Quite right, new fur shows up very fast. She is still sick, however, and I am on the verge of tears.

Several times during the summer I talk to a Swedish breeder to the race. “Buy an Australian book about feeding by the vet Jan Billingshurst “Give Your Dog a Bone”, it takes some weeks before it arrives”, then I spread the ears out, make notes, and make a plan of action.

Raw beef – chopped raw root vegetables – chopped raw chickens with the bones. We buy 6 hens too, now the dogs are going to have new-laid egg yolks, I wonder what the dogs are going to say to the new diet. “Your dogs will be happier, just wait and see”, the Swede told me.

At this time I am running out of ideas. We can try, my husband shakes his head and says, for God knows how many times, think carefully about it, you can’t find the solution on this problem which a lot of people are trying to solve too.

It makes me even more stubborn but I take a serious decision. 1 year old the little must have Prednisolon, then its life must be shorter, I can’t bear it any more, 1 pill of 5 mg a day, well the itching goes away and the mood is better. After a while we try a half pill a day, on the 3rd day it goes wrong. Obviously she is going to be sick again.

In any case it was not the way to do it. (Remember to ask your vet how to cut down. Prednisolon is no laughing matter and you may never after a longer treatment suddenly stop).

It shows that to give a pill every second day is more effective and today she gets only a half pill every 4 day. I surrender and order an hour at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural High School and I get a reference from my vet.

At the High School Flemming Kristensen takes very kindly care of us. He explains and makes notes, takes a blood sample, which shows that the dog is allergic to 5 sorts of grass – allergic to house dust mite, to the food we have in the stable to horse – hens – geese, shortly, we have 3 metres to the stable, the same to the grass, not to mention to the house dust mite in the house. “If you are bright and cooperate your dog might live till it is 7 years but it can go this way too”, Flemming says, and shows us a horrible picture of a dog which can not tolerate Prednisolon. Your dog may never again be in rutting season, it must have light fodder with as few addition of substances as possible and don’t expose it to stress.

I boast at bit of how I succeeded to get her fur back and show him the things I have used. He grins, commends me though, and says: “Save your money and give it fodder instead, oil from giant evening primrose and he tells me that they laughed about it 20 years ago they don’t do it any more though.

From the High School I get a bottle of Sebolux shampoo against thickened skin and sticky eczema with mw. On Wednesday and Sunday I have to wash 2 times every time with the shampoo remaining in the fur for 15 minutes. This is like magic, every washing day removes black skin and after 4 weeks my dog is as beautiful as never before, the skin is elastic and healthy, there is no sign left of the illness. I wish it was my invention, the dog-people can look forward to getting help to all the itching 4-legged friends.

You might have a good laugh of the plan of the food as it here looks like for every day but then it is my turn to laugh, I do have a thoroughly healthy dog who bolts about with 200 kilometres an hour, knocks the other dogs, runs tireless around the lake and up and down the hills.

Sick dog? Not here!

I sincerely hope that many readers will try this treatment which improves the dog’s defence of immune, because it is the only thing I can do, give it proper food with lots of pep so she/he can cope those periods of bad allergy. It takes time and the food supplement does not work fast, be patient and do really keep on. Hopefully you will write to me and tell me how it goes. Don’t be aimed at sourish remarks like hanky-panky – waste of money or your failing believe in that your dog does not eat raw meet and raw vegetables. In this house nothing is served boiled or fried, only raw food to the dogs.

You will be surprised, just wait and see. If you think that I go for alternative treatment, I can inform you that no bigger antagonist you will never find. That is not the reason why it has helped. Lack of my failing believe I am never for a moment in doubt that Hokamix30 + Hokamix Forte + Velcote, which was used for 70 days only, is the reason why my sick dog got her fur back. Besides my 3 healthy dogs has to put up with to be dogs for experiments to exactly the same supplement and fodder every day. The only difference is that it was only the sick dog that got Hokamix Forte, and I must say, my dogs have never been more beautiful as now.
